Tyre Presssure Check

Welcome to your CTS Auto Centre in Worcester.

On this page, we would like to give you some information about the correct tyre pressure.

You can find the indications for the correct air pressure for your tyres in the fuel cap, in the owner's manual, or on the driver's door panel.

There are two different pressure indications: the first concerns a normally loaded vehicle, the second a heavily loaded vehicle.

It is important that you measure the air pressure when the tyres are cold (a maximum of 3 miles driven in the previous 2 to 3 hours). If you have no choice and your tyres are already warm, remember to add 0.3 bar to the measured pressure.

Do not forget to turn the cap on the valve; this ensures water tightness.

The wrong tyre pressure: THE HAZARDS

Too low pressure: a tyre with too low a pressure will wear out faster. It causes overheating of the tyres and can lead to the bursting of the tyre.

Excessive pressure: this causes faster wear of the centre of the tread.

Manufacturers always recommend a lower pressure than the maximum pressure indicated on your tyre.

The tyre pressure plays a vital role in optimising the performance of your car.

ABNORMAL PRESSURE LOSS

Small particles of oxygen escape naturally from the tyre and cause pressure loss of 0.1 bar per month. Therefore you should regularly check the air pressure of your tyres.

If your tyre loses more than 0.1 bar per month, you are dealing with abnormal pressure loss.

Modern cars are equipped with a so-called “TPMS” (= Tyre Pressure Monitoring System) which informs you of any change of air pressure.

But even if your car does not warn you, you should still check your tyre pressure regularly.

The valves are often the cause of abnormal loss of air pressure. The valves keep the air in the tyres and guarantee tightness. However, the quality of the valves deteriorates over time due to the different heating cycles of the tyres, as a result of which the tightness of the tyres can no longer be optimally guaranteed.

This is why we at the CTS Auto Centre replace the valves when replacing the tyres.

Please don’t worry, if you don’t know how to measure or top-up the air pressure of your tyres.

Many of our customers are unsure about this.

That’s why we are offering our CTS Auto Centre free tyre and air pressure check to everybody.

Please come over at any time, and we will check your car’s tyre pressure accurately for you.

We will top up the pressure if necessary and have a look at your tyre’s valves and tread.

Our team will be happy to show you how to do it if you like.

After a few minutes, you will be back on the road with peace of mind.
